Windows Update KB4462923 Fails Due to Unexpected Microsoft Update Blunder

This month’s Patch Tuesday cycle brings a new monthly rollup to Windows 7 devices, but just like it happened in September, installing it fails with error code 0x8000FFFF.

First of all, the essential details. The October 2018 monthly rollup for Windows 7 is KB4462923, and it contains security fixes for the operating system, including patches for critical vulnerabilities.

As it’s the case every month, the update is being offered via Windows Update, but this time the installation fails with error 0x8000FFFF.
