Unique things to do in Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon off the beaten path

Walking through the streets of Ho Chi Minh City can be an overwhelming experience: Vendors are parked up on both sides of the road — peddling everything from homemade snacks to fresh fruit — while scooters, bicycles, and plastic dining chairs fight for every inch of the remaining street real estate. With so many sights, sounds, and smells deluging the senses, some peace and quiet can be hard to come by.

For all its frenzied charm, the Vietnamese capital does have its moments of tranquility — but many of them will require you to dig deeper. With that in mind, Uber has set out to unearth the hidden gems that capture something different from the city’s usual hustle and bustle.

After gathering internal transport data fro a year, the tech company has mapped out three of the least-visited locales in the city. These places may be less-frequented, but they are breathtaking in their own right. The company then invited three local photography influencers to explore them, as part of a collaboration with Canon. Armed with Canon’s EOS M mirrorless camera product range, these snappers created a compelling visual story that shows a rarely-seen side of the growing metropolis. Read on to uncover three relaxing locales that are well worth a pit stop on your next visit. These moments are shared on Uber and Canon’s Instagram feeds under the hashtags #CanonxUber#whereto, #hiddencities, #KhoiDauMoi, and #BanMuonDenDau, inspiring followers to go explore their own cities, unlocking more hidden gems that had gone unnoticed.
