This slithering eel video is both creepy and captivating

The peppered moray eel slithering across the rocks is a strangely soothing and mesmerizing scene.

That is, until the eel encounters a crab. Then it’s all nerve-racking suspense and, well, you can guess how this ends.

The wild encounter is part of Big Pacific, a new documentary that premieres June 21 at 8 p.m. EDT on PBS. Narrated by actor and producer Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii Five-0, Lost), the four-episode series explores the many microcosms of the world’s largest ocean.

Our hungry eel stars in the “Voracious” episode, which airs July 5 and also features a “destructive army of mouths” that belong to blue whales, manta rays, jellyfish, lionfish, and whale sharks, the producers said.
