This new meme perfectly describes when plans go wrong

It’s been eight years since Despicable Me and the internet still hasn’t let it go.

At least this time, it’s not wine moms and their obsession with the Minions. This wave of Despicable Me memes feature Gru, the lovable but fading villain who’s desperate to beat his younger rival at stealing the moon.

It comes from Gru’s failed presentation to the Bank of Evil, which was hijacked by his mischievous toilet-drawing adopted daughters.

Gru’s plan has recently become one of the most relatable images on social media, perfectly depicting how it feels when you start out confident but your plans fall apart anyway.

Tinder, for example, is not an easy place to find love.

Gru’s plan has also taken some depressing turns into millennial humor

Our very qualified president might also find Gru’s plan relatable.

Gru’s plan can also be applied to pretty much any situation in world history.

Or just anything on the internet, or life, really.

Sometimes challenging stereotypes don’t end well.

Only a fool would meet the Dothraki in an open field!

At least it worked out for Gru in the end!
