Friends— in the final days of August, it’s time to talk about leaf peeping.

While a person’s outlook on holiday season rests heavily on her patience for family gatherings and excessive spending, fall foliage asks so little of us that we can’t help but look forward to it.

As for when you, reader, should break out your favorite sweater, this interactive map predicts when and where the first signs of fall foliage will appear.

Per, this year’s map features projections gleaned from an algorithm that takes into account millions of data points from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and from historical foliage trends. 

Broken down by county, the map offers predictions for the 11-week period between August 26 and November 11, detailing where and when foliage will peak in your area.
