Samsung Galaxy S9 may have Animoji-like feature to take on iPhone X
The report claims the S9 will feature Animoji-style 3D emoji which will mimic users’ facial expressions.
It will also feature dual stereo speakers on the top and bottom of the phone, according to the report. The new speaker setup means users won’t have to worry about accidentally covering up a speaker while playing games or watching videos and interrupting their audio.
The report also indicates the infamous Bixby button will remain on the left of the screen. This could mean Samsung is still working towards improving Bixby to the point where it can compete with the likes of Siri and Google Assistant. Don’t worry, Bixby haters: On the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and Galaxy Note 8, you can disable the Bixby button, so that will probably continue on the S9.
Animoji were one of the most highly anticipated features of the iPhone X, and the S9’s corresponding technology may mean it’s gearing up to be a serious competitor. And if previous rumors of enhanced facial recognition technology on the S9 are true, Samsung’s newest phone could be a force to be reckoned with.
We’ll find out for sure on Feb. 25, when the device officially launches.
