No one is okay in ’13 Reasons Why’ Season 2 trailer: Watch

In the 13 Reasons Why Season 2 trailer, Hannah Baker’s (Katherine Langford) story is far from finished.

While Season 1 was dominated by the immediacy of grief following Hannah’s death, Season 2 leans fully into a tone of mystery and conspiracy. Who is stalking the people from the tapes Hannah left behind? What do they know – and what do they have wrong?

Though the trailer focuses primarily on Clay (Dylan Minnette), we see all the key characters from Season 1 return. Most notably, Jessica (Alisha Boe) is visibly coping with the realization that she was sexually assaulted before Hannah’s death, and judging by what she says to Clay, she’s still not ready to face it.

Clay (and ostensibly the others) is receiving photographs and notes from an anonymous source who claims, “Hannah wasn’t the only one.” It’s unclear what this person wants, but the notes drive Clay to join forces with the rest of the people on the tapes. He also appears to be hallucinating Hannah, a tool that was used for dramatic effect a few times in Season 1 but may now point to more lasting effects of Clay’s own experience with loss.

13 Reasons Why Season 2 premieres May 18 on Netflix.
