I/O Interactive and Warner Bros. Games have now announced a new Hitman HD Collection coming very soon. After a successful launch of the latest entry, I/O is returning to some of the older games in the franchise with a fresh coat of paint and the high-res treatment for current generation consoles.

Hitman originally released back in 2000 with Hitman: Codename 47. It was followed up with a series of sequels, mobile games and film adaptations before getting fully rebooted in 2016. While the game has never really received the kind of sales numbers its publishers have hoped for, the franchise as a whole has a large cult following (especially with the older titles) and has successfully re-introduced itself to a new generation with the last two.
New Hitman HD Collection
I/O Interactive took to Twitter to announce the new Hitman HD Collection earlier this morning. While details are still thin, we know it will include remastered version of both Hitman Absolution and Hitman Blood Money. Along with enhanced lighting and updated control schemes, you’re looking at 4K resolutions (on PS4 Pro and Xbox One X). You can also add 60 frames per second and a release date that is right around the corner to the list as well.
Blood Money is Back!
While 2012’s Hitman Absolution strayed somewhat from the usual formula, adding segments of gameplay in between the main assassinations – it is still nice to see it get refreshed for PS4 and Xbox One. Absolution was certainly a divisive title in the series but 2006’s Blood Money is easily one of the most beloved. I, for one, really enjoyed Absolution despite some of the unwanted filler content. Blood Money, on the other hand, is an absolutely amazing rendition of Agent 47’s violent antics. One might say it is where the true DNA of the series was born and really began to shine among gamers. While it’s a little bit unfortunate we aren’t going to get Hitman 2: Silent Assassin or Contracts in the package, anytime we get more Blood Money it is a good thing.

Needless to say, this is great news for Hitman fans clamoring for a little bit more silent assassin action. Previous HD collections of this sort have done great among gamers looking to bring some classics to current generation machines, and the new Hitman HD Collection will certainly fit the bill. It is set for a digital release on Xbox One and PS4 come January 11th. There doesn’t appear to be any pricing information available and there has been no mention of a PC release just yet.
