Impressive fan-made ‘Overwatch’ film digs into Mercy’s gritty backstory

Mercy, everyone’s favorite Swiss healer from Overwatch, has been through some dark times according to this live-action fan film.

Going off of Mercy’s limited background story, Lupin Productions created a short film that shines a light on Mercy’s father, her inspiration for becoming a peaceful healer, and her involvement in more recent conflicts. The short, “Heroes Never Die,” takes a few creative liberties in expanding her backstory, suggesting that Mercy’s father was a doctor who helped develop the iconic Valkyrie suit and resurrect ability.

The video is a cool look at what could have fueled Mercy’s passion for peace, but also shows us why Overwatch leans toward a more cartoonish style than a realistic one. Mercy looks a little ridiculous next to those soldiers.
