EA announces Battlefield V battle royale, Anthem, FIFA 19, more ahead of E3

Today EA took the stage ahead of E3 today in Hollywood, offering a glimpse into the upcoming year with previews of notable titles such as Battlefield 5, Anthem, FIFA 19 and more. Head below for a look at each trailer and more details.

Battlefield V |

As expected, EA led things off with arguably its biggest release of 2018, Battlefield V. It’s been two weeks since DICE and EA unveiled the latest Battlefield title. Today, we’re getting a deeper look at gameplay, which is being called the “most immersive experience the series has ever seen.”

EA focused heavily on its revamped campaign with War Stories mode, which will get an even deeper dive at tomorrow’s Xbox event. As promised, there will not be any loot boxes or premium passes, which has been a pillar of Battlefield in the past.

After not being announced two weeks ago, the folks at EA teased a battle royale mode designed specifically for Battlefield. This felt like an inevitable move given the success of recent title likes PUBG and Fortnite.

Battlefield V releases on October 19th.

Anthem |

BioWare’s latest Anthem title is set to arrive on February 22nd, 2019. Details are slim as this game is still nine months away, but the early concept art looks gorgeous. Expect more details to arrive this fall.

FIFA 19 |

Next up is FIFA 19, EA’s popular annual soccer release. With the World Cup upcoming this summer, it was sure to be a big year. There’s a focus on the UEFA Champions League this time around in Career Mode, Ultimate Team, and online.

Along with a preview of next year’s upcoming title, a free update to FIFA 18 was also announced today with a eye on the World Cup. Previously EA has tried to spin-off the World Cup into another release, so this year’s freebie is a welcome addition.

FIFA 19 is set to ship on September 28th.

Unravel 2 |

Unravel 2 arrives on PC, PS4 and Xbox One as the sequel to Coldwood Interactive’s first introduction two years back. The side-scrolling platformer introduces a new co-op mode and is available today on digital storefronts.

NBA Live 19 |

It’s been a tough stretch for NBA Live the last few years, as NBA 2K has seemingly dominated the virtual basketball court for some time. While a playground mode was briefly detailed, there isn’t much more to say here other than EA is going to give it another shot.

Madden 19 |

Madden returns this fall with various subtle improvements over last year’s edition. Much like NBA Live, EA didn’t offer many details but you can get a look at the trailer and gameplay above.

Be sure to keep it locked to 9to5Toys throughout E3 for more coverage from Sony, Microsoft and others.
