David Attenborough laughing with the Queen is more British than 75% of tea-drinkers
David Attenborough combined with Queen Elizabeth II is about the most British thing to happen since the last time you refused to talk frankly about your feelings.
In the upcoming ITV documentary The Queen’s Green Planet, which will look at the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy project — protecting forests across 53 Commonwealth countries — national treasure David Attenborough talks to head of state Queen Elizabeth.
It’s rare that the Queen is recorded in conversation, and even rarer to catch her joking about her own death on camera.
She and Attenborough are talking about climate change, and how the species of trees present in her gardens may be entirely different in 50 years’ time.
“I won’t be here though,” says the Queen.
The pair also have a light-hearted exchange about a sundial placed squarely in the shade. Furthermore, according to ITV, she makes a joke about President Donald Trump.
The programme will air Monday, 16 April, on ITV.
