Catch the leaders of Grab, Ninja Van and Nufin Data at TIA Singapore 2018’s Main Stage
With just five days to go to Tech in Asia Singapore 2018, we hope you’re thrilled for what’s to come: networking opportunities with over 5,000 techies, investors, media, and access to six stages chock-full of insightful talks.
Previously, we brought you eight speakers not to miss at the conference. Here are three additional tech luminaries to bookmark:
Cheryl Goh, Vice President of Marketing, Grab
Cheryl’s session titled “Grab and our story of fierce optimism” will take place on Day 2, Main Stage at 10am
Cheryl oversees Grab’s marketing efforts across the region, and shapes the strategy behind the company’s user growth, country expansion and service diversification.
Cheryl believes that the trick to localization is to hire a strong local team and personally spending time in that country. During her earlier days at Grab, she would often travel, spending 80 percent of her time living out of a suitcase – by doing so, it helped her to connect with local consumers.
She has also spent a decade in leadership roles in the digital space, mostly in technology companies such as MOL Global and Friendster. Throughout her career, she has developed a profound understanding of digital audiences and how to build businesses around them.
Teo Ser Luck, Executive Chairman, Nufin Data
Ser Luck is speaking on Day 2’s Main Stage at 3.15pm
Mr Teo Ser Luck is an entrepreneur and Member of Parliament of Singapore, formerly Minister of State for Manpower. Mr Teo spent 15 years in the private sector before joining politics for 11 years.
Mr Teo announced he would return back to the private sector in order to spend more time with his family, and plans to create and invest in startups and businesses. Currently, he has started a few of his own ventures and is building others, such as Singapore-based Helicap. He holds the position of Executive Chairman at Nufin Data, a platform that helps enterprises unlock funds for growth.
Throughout his private sector career, he has taken on management positions such as head of sales, marketing, business operations before progressing to lead companies as Regional Director, General Manager and Managing Director of multi-national operations in the Asia Pacific.
Lai Chang Wen, Chief Executive Officer, Ninja Van
Chang Wen’s session “No easy fleet: How Ninja Van defied roadblocks to be the last mile heroes” will take place on Day 1’s Main Stage, at 2.30pm
Chang Wen is responsible for conceptualizing and leading the implementation of Ninja Van’s short and long-term vision. With a keen problem-solving mindset, he designed Ninja Van to improve the delivery process through the usage of advanced technology and mathematical algorithms.
Today, Ninja Van has over 2,000 full time staff and has close to 10,000 full time delivery personnel. In January this year, the startup completed its Series C funding, reportedly raising US$87 million, one of the largest in the region’s history.
Chang Wen is also particularly interested in building a strong collegial culture that transcends time and business scale. Prior to founding Ninja Van, he was CEO and founder of online custom apparel retailer, Marcella, and a derivatives trader at Barclays Bank.
