Amy Poehler and her ‘Parks and Rec’ costars celebrating Galentine’s Day is everything
All is right in the world of love because Amy Poehler and her Parks and Rec co-stars gathered on Feb. 13 to celebrate Galentine’s Day.
What’s Galentine’s Day? Oh, it’s only the best day of the year.
The unofficial holiday was introduced to the world in Season 2 of Parks and Rec and has since been celebrated by women everywhere, including Poehler herself.
In the show, Poehler’s character, Leslie Knope, throws a bash for all her best gal pals the day before Valentine’s Day because who needs romantic love when you can celebrate the fantastic WOMEN in your lives?
“Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies,” Knope explained on the show. “It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.”
Although the show ended in 2015 the cast members and IRL friends are still keeping up the tradition, which completely warms our cold cold hearts.
On Tuesday Aubrey Plaza, who played April on Parks and Rec, shared an adorable Instagram of her hanging with former co-stars Kathryn Hahn, Rashida Jones, and Poehler.
“Happy happy Galentine’s Day,” she wrote. “These women keep me alive.”
Jones shared the photo to her account as well, captioning the glorious image, “Galentine’s Day! Forever and ever 💖💕💝.”
Poehler also asked followers of her Amy Poehler Smart Girls Instagram account to share the ways they were planning to celebrate the big day.
Thank you for this Galentine’s Day gift, ladies. And remember to “treat yo’ self” on Valentine’s Day, too.
