Aidy Bryant had a real message for all men on ‘Saturday Night Live’ Weekend Update

The two stars of Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update sketch weren’t hosts Michael Che and Colin Jost this week. That honor goes instead to two of their guests: Aidy Bryant, as herself (sort of), and Kenan Thompson, as LaVar Ball.

Bryant used her segment to get real with America about being a women in 2018. Mixing bits of herself with an “overly accommodating woman” character, Bryant pulls the curtain back on deeply ingrained gender identities in our culture. She also delivers a scathing take on Mark Wahlberg’s gesture of donating his All the Money in the World fee to the Time’s Up movement.

“It would be so cool if it didn’t take a week-long public shaming to do the right thing.”

Then there’s Kenan Thompson, who can barely keep it together when he delivers an over-the-top take on LaVar Ball. It’s always a gift when an SNL performer breaks character and laughs, and we almost get there this time.
